Nowadays the fashion industry is all about throw-away consumerism and planned obsolescense. Due to globalization the production of garments has moved to countries with cheap labour costs – which has resulted to lower retail prices. But enough is enough.
We are now living in a false belief that the price of a garment can really be as low as it is now in most of the retail stores. If we would think of the real price of producing one garment – made with respect for both environment and people – the price would be something totally different.
It is unbearable for both the environment and for the garment workers to produce clothes this fast, this much and with so low prices.
The fashion industry simply cannot continue as it is. There has to be a way to enjoy garments without harming others. This is the reason why I passionately want to do my part in changing the fashion industry towards a sustainable future.
I want to show that there is another way.
